Job Description:

Senior Database Administrator (DBA): Oracle 11G & SQL Server 2012
Onsite Location: Santa Cruz, CA

 

Summary:
Looking for a Senior DBA with Oracle and SQL Server experience to support a State organization in Santa Cruz County.
This is a mission critical, strategic assignment that will enable the county to move from a legacy commercial off the shelf UNIX Solaris/Oracle 11G case management application to a new commercial off the shelf case management system based on Windows and SQL Server 2012.
Step 1 is to stand up a server (physical or virtual) and install and configure SQL Server 2012.
Step 2 would be to refresh the data within the test instance of the Oracle Database with current data from the current system.
Once a clean and newly refreshed Oracle database exists it needs to be converted to a SQL Server database on the newly established SQL Server instance so that it can be furnished to the vender of the new commercial off the shelf case management solution for testing.
The successful candidate will be on-site and will take day to day activities directly from our client IT managers. Duties will include but are not limited to refreshing legacy Oracle test environments, converting data to SQL server, building new SQL database, and helping with integrating the new case management 
system to other applications within county.

 

Experience:
Requires Oracle 11G and SQL Server 2012 experience.
Job planning and prioritizing techniques for self and others to meet project timelines;.
Current Programming languages, PL/SQL, T/SQL, Operating Systems and HyperV technologies;
Database normalization, referential integrity, indexing, and performance tuning
Database design, implementation, maintenance, and integration techniques (Oracle and SQL).
Virtualized SQL Clusters
Data organization and access methods in automated systems;
Enterprise-wide document management and document workflow concepts;
Operational characteristics of various hardware platforms, peripheral equipment, desktop applications, client/server applications, communications protocols and 
intranet/internet functionality;
Data reporting tools (SSRS, ECR);
Data Warehousing;
Visual Basic, .NET, C# desired;
SOAP, AJAX, XML.
