Position: SQL Server DBA with SAP

Location: LONGMONT, Colorado

Duration: 12 months

Prefer: Citizen, GC or EAD

 

Job Summary - Intermediate SQL DBA with SAP or another ERP system.
This role is in support of Application Hosting Services and will have the primary responsibility for all activities related to SQL Server Database administration in a 24x7 regulated environment. This role will also interact with multiple internal and external partner groups for DBA activities.

Database administration responsibilities will include:

Installation, upgrades and optimization, backup/recovery, access control administration, database vendor contract administration, disaster recovery support, development and test environment support, documentation, and infrastructure and methodologies improvements. Monitors database performance and seeks opportunities for tuning and improvement. Consults with and advises users on various database issues and works with internal and external teams. Projects, plans and implements long-range requirements for database administration and design. Performs the system and application DBA functions for both development and production environments.

Job Responsibilities:
Implement & configure SQL Server software ( including DBMS, SQL Reporting Services, SQL Server analysis services, SQL Server integration services, )
Implement & configure DB appropriate to business requirements (OLTP, decision support, standby DB, replication)
Set up Database tools and scripts to proactively monitors databases and send alerts to enable the DBAs to reduce outages
Create and generate various database reports to help plan for capacity and performance.
Investigates and resolves technical database issues.
Performs analysis and determination of database performance characteristics, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities for multiple applications. Recommends and implements SQL tuning opportunities to improve system response and run times.
Defines logical attributes and data inter-relationships and designs data structures to accommodate database implementation, storage, maintenance and accessibility to enhance performance.
Develops and documents standards, procedures, work instructions for database support that help in increased productivity for operations.
Optimizes database accessibility by developing load balancing architectures and processes to eliminate down time for backup processes.
Implements and supports database security regulations, policies, and guidelines. Monitors security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats; installs necessary security patches to ensure ongoing database security.
Assists project managers in the development of project plans including detailed project estimates and tasks required for database activities. Utilizes standard corporate tools to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes.
Translate business goals into strategy and actionable objectives
Conduct project scoping, chartering, execution strategy, process improvement activities and change management
As need be manage and develop team members/partners
Serve as the primary interface for the business to interact with all IS services
Identify and remove barriers by working with internal and external stakeholders
Prioritize workload in accordance with goals
Write Scripts
Participate in Root Cause Analysis reviews when applicable.
Rotational 24x7 On-Call Support
Accountable for all audit and security compliance issues (Amgen & government regulations).

Basic Qualifications:
Masters degree & 3 years of database administrator experience
OR
Bachelors degree & 5 years of database administrator experience
OR
Associates degree & 10 years of database administrator experience
OR
High school diploma / GED & 12 years of database administrator experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft Database Certifications
Experience is SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008
. Experience includes ERP Systems preferable SAP
Experience in managing and administering SCOM
Understanding of Windows tools for performance issues.
Working knowledge on SAN storage, Clustering and HA configurations
Experience with various toolsets for Database Administration, Performance, Reporting and monitoring needs
Experience managing regulated systems( preferably in Pharma sector)
Excellent data-driven problem solving and analytical skills
Experience leading large initiatives in multiple functional areas of a complex organization
Proven experience as part of a high performance team
Skill in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues
ITIL experience
