Responsible for Unix Systems administration, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades and support in heterogeneous server environments running under Solaris.

Strong knowledge with Sun/Solaris software and hardware including Veritas Volume Manager, Solaris LDOMs/Zones, ZFS file systems, Live Migration, running on Solaris 10 TSeries/M5 Series servers.

Practical experience moving environments from legacy Sun servers to Solaris 10 LDOMs.

Coordinate the installation and maintenance of third party vendor software and hardware, maintenance and support, disk space management, backups and file restoration.

Maintain availability of assigned services.

Analyze level 3 system problems and recommend solutions.

Ensure system accessibility, functionality and stability through best practices administration.

Install new software releases, perform system upgrades, evaluate and install software and security patches, and resolve software-related issues.

Support installing, loading, and configuring servers, server connectivity issues, perform server upgrades and migration to new system-level software.

Possesses experience in installation, configuration and operation of company-wide services such as TCP/IP, Apache/SSL, DHCP, DNS, NFS, Sendmail, SSH etc.

Perform regular day-to-day Systems Administration activities such as User Administrations, Disk Management, Package Install, Patch Management, Storage Management, NFS Administration and disaster recovery/fail-over exercises.

Create Logical Volume Manager, disk groups and assign volumes for the application on Solaris Servers as per the project requirements.

Perform Incident & Problem resolution.

Identify, analyze, fix, and determine root cause, follow-up and coordinate changes to resolve complex problems involving hardware, software, networking and applications.

Monitor and ensure adequate security for hosts and tightened file system access control.

Responsible for regular backup and restore operations for Solaris Systems using Tivoli Storage Manager.

Identify, control, maintain and verify OS baseline configurations and manage server resources and predict the need for additional capacity in advance.

Install and configure various enterprise wide infrastructure tools including automation tool, job scheduler, authentication and authorization software, backup tools on Solaris Servers.

Quickly restore service during system outages, provide troubleshooting support to team members, perform proactive problem prevention, and escalate technical details to technical lead and/or to vendor support.

Write technical documentation, operational procedures, systems documentation and Incident and problem communications and reporting.

Assist with the monitoring performance analysis of existing applications and ensuring that the system is consistent with ongoing need.

Take part in after-hours on-call rotation schedule and weekend activities as required.

Minimum Requirements:

Job requires a Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired; and five years of work experience in Solaris systems operations and administration.

o Shell scripting
o Network File System (NFS) Administration
o Perform Change Management, Incident/ Problem Management and Continuity Management functions in a SOX controlled Financial Services environment
o Writing, contributing, reviewing technical documentation, operational procedures and systems documentation

MUST HAVE:
