Position: SR JAVA DEVELOPER

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be a proactive practitioner of methodologies that focus on quality and productivity, with substantial software engineering experience and minimal supervision. Become a part of a new, cross-functional team utilizing cutting edge software engineering tools and processes to build applications that impact millions of Americans and the healthcare industry in general. This position reports to one of Health Payer Group's Software Engineering Managers.

Responsibilities:

·          Design, code, and implement highly scalable and reliable web-based applications using latest Java and J2EE technologies.

·          Develop and deploy applications to various application servers including JBoss and WebSphere.

·          Develop software components to support data enrichment and transformation in a high traffic transactional data and data warehouse environment.

·          Provide development estimates outlining business and technical risks.

·          Develop and deploy software in an incremental process that is potentially shippable with each iteration.

·          Identify and significantly contribute, where appropriate, to Enterprise initiatives.

·          Provide technical and business explanation and justification for architectural, design, and coding approaches.

·          Contribute advanced web services through the development of web technologies that include HTML, Servlets, JSP/JSF, EJB technologies.

·          Provide solutions that incorporate standard data format exchanges based on XML.

·          Work under tight time constraints with changing requirements.

·          Provide thorough, automated test cases for developed solutions.

·          Develop data persistence and transmission based on XML, as well as commercial and open source relational databases.

·          Regularly update technical and business teams as to plans, progress, and issues.

·          Produce high quality software following best practices and established standards such as Test-Driven Development and Pair Programming.

·          Analyze and develop designs for entire enterprise systems (applications, databases, data warehouses) to meet business requirements.

·          Plan, design, enforce, and audit policies and procedures that safeguard the integrity of and access to enterprise systems, files, and data elements.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

·          7+ years of full life cycle design and development of enterprise-wide J2EE systems distributed across multiple platforms.

·          5+ years of experience with deploying complex, multi-threaded systems to various application servers such as JBoss and WebSphere on Linux/Unix.

·          5+ years of development experience working with large scale datasets (multiple terabytes) on RDBMS such as Oracle or SQL Server.

·          3+ years of Rich Internet Applications (RIA) development experience leveraging technologies like Flash, Ajax, JSF 2.0, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.

·          Experience with standard Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tools such as Eclipse, Subversion, Hudson, and Sonar that promote collaboration, productivity and quality.

·          Inter-process communications development using SOA, web services or JMS.

·          Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.

·          Comfortable in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

·          Strong written and verbal skills from both business and technical perspectives.

·          A reverence for clean, simple, elegant coding solutions with proven ability to release deliverables and applications on-time.

·          Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

Desired:

• Pervious Healthcare IT experience is desirable.

• Recent practical experience with Adobe Flex Builder 3 or Flash Builder 4 a huge plus.

• Experience working on a team using Scrum or other agile project framework.

• Applicable professional certifications are advantageous.

• Understanding user experience (UX) designs across a wide range of end-users, including Section 508 provisions for the disabled, is desired.
