IT CONSULTANT

Position: Cisco Nexus Engineer (130812-IO85KERJON)
Location: Pensacola, FL
Duration: long term contract position

Rate: ior$85/hr

Description:

Cisco Nexus Engineer to support the physical and logical infrastructure of the campus network, remote access systems, Internet connectivity, and related external services for the entire organization, including design, installation, maintenance, and evolution of these systems. Systems that support activities related to network management, documentation, core network development, networking and access technologies may also fall within the scope of the team.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Extensive experience with Cisco Equipment
* Cisco Nexus experience is required
* ASA-PIX Firewalls 55xx, 515, 535
* Cisco Switches and Routers such as ASR 100x, 72xx, 65xx, 37xx, 35xx and 28xx routers and switches
*Extensive experience. with Cisco switching and routing: Routing protocols, Trunking protocols, Access lists, VTP, Etherchannel/LACP, HSRP,VRP, GRE, High Availability, IOS installs and updates
*Extensive experience with CISCO PIX and ASA firewalls technologies: IPSEC, SSL VPN, ACLs, NAT, PAT, Routing, High Availability, Virtual, Encryption algorithms
* Experience in F5 or Bluecoat
*Internet \WAN architectures, Point-to-Point circuits, T1, DS3, Metro E, UVN,

Daily Responsibilities:
* Configure and maintain production and corporate networks
* Assist with administering and maintaining network infrastructure
* Perform and assist with network design, network capacity planning, monitoring, reconfigure, and tuning of network hardware
* Configure and install new network equipment
* Help maintain network hardware/software up to date
* Maintaining current network configurations backups
* Working with NOC in monitoring network health
* Participate in on-call schedule
* Participate in off-hours changes to address service outages and scheduled upgrades
* Perform and document network operation processes and procedures

Additional Requirements:
* Course work equivalent to a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
* Security or Network certifications a plus
* Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and verbal/written communication skills
* Skill in coping with challenging work environments
* Knowledge and proficiency in applying standards and technologies used for encryption, authentication, and identity management
* Proficiency in assessing organizational needs and system requirements
* Proficient in documentation using Visio and Microsoft Office suite

Additional Technical Skills:
* Knowledge of F5 LTM and GTM load balancers a big plus
* SSL certificates
* Domain name and public DNS management
* Bluecoat Proxy
* Other network management tools
