We're seeking a Data Center Architect with high level experience in the operations, management, design, relocation, upgrade,
and decommissioning of business critical data centers and all related supporting technologies. This position will need to partner
with internal and 3rd party facilities and engineering representatives, both technical and managerial, to define, source, and implement
our Clients data center strategy which is currently focused on migrating enterprise applications to our new colocation facility, expansion
in that colocation facility, and the remediation and closure of low tier data centers. The right candidate for this position is an established
SME that will be looked to for making decisions with significant financial and strategic impact, therefore it is critical that this person be an
expert in industry best practices but also have a great whatever it takes attitude and not afraid to roll up sleeves to rack and stack when needed.
Responsibilities:

Review the work of consultants and their preparation of project documents to ensure complete scope.
Review design options from a cost, schedule and risk perspective
- Provide direction to external consultants on Civil, Structural, Architectural design
- Develop and update the design standards, specifications and Owners Project Requirements
- Provide expertise, leadership, and oversight to global data center operations teams
- Travel to datacenter sites for project review, design studies, facility audits, building commissioning as required
- Review and update data center "as-built" documentation as re-configurations occur
- Be the authority on data center architecture, design, implementation and management
- Create both high-level and detailed space, rack and cabling design diagrams and facilitate design reviews
- Work with IS teams to understand server and network hardware requirements with respect to power density, rack positioning, cabling,
cooling, airflow containment and environmental consideration
- Create detailed BOMs for data center deployments
- Help manage relationships with data center vendors and systems integrators
- Oversee the delivery of supporting MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) services to all data centers and perform detailed power utilization
calculations and optimizations
- Improve automation for infrastructure reporting and work with I/O teams to improve communications on data center capacity and operation
- Manage RFP/RFI process, bids, pricing review and contract negotiations
- Represent DCOps team for merger and acquisitions and lead assessment, integration, and standardization documents
- Create documentation for the Data Center Operations knowledge base
- Review and Approve operational procedures (Mechanical and Electrical) from the vendors and notify Turn internal of upcoming activities with potential impacts
- Leverage your vast data center experience to mentor and coach team members.
Requirements:
- Minimum of eight (8) years professional experience in mission critical facility design, construction, operations, and maintenance of tier 3 and / or 4 data centers
- Must have expert knowledge of mission critical power distribution, UPS, PDU, and Mechanical systems and data systems
- Should possess knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards
- Must have strong cross-discipline knowledge of complete critical facility systems
- Strong trouble shooting and analytical skills
- Ability to provide solutions to complex projects under pressure
- Must have effective written and verbal communications skills
- Must be familiar with AutoCAD and Visio software
- 7-10 years experience in data center design, deployment and building scaling infrastructure
- BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Expert knowledge in data center practices (i.e. fault tolerance, cable routing, calculating power usage)
- Working knowledge with server/network hardware
- Ability to make decisions and work with minimal direction
- Understanding of Electrical Power distribution and operation
- Understanding of best practices related to the design, implementation, and operation of various data center fire suppression technologies
- Familiar with data center cost models, economies of scale and ability to effectively negotiate contracts
- Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator
- A positive, service oriented attitude and track record of success.
- Occasional travel required. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for work.
