Position: Data Modeler

Location: Baltimore, MD

Description: 5 month to extent.

 

H1 candidates can be considered for this position.

Candidate should be ready to come for a F2F , if needed after the telephonic interview.

 

 

Summary:

Data modeling experience, preferably with tools like PowerDesigner and ERWin. Also, anyone with Third Normal Form and Teradata experience would be great. 

 

The Data Modeling position will be working on building out a Marketing Database in the context of our client’s Enterprise Data Strategy. The main responsibility will be to complete a logical data model of the necessary data required by marketing to complete their stated goals. This candidate will go through previously gathered business requirements and translate them into data requirements, and then incorporate those elements into a larger data model. The Data Modeler will be a part of a project team assigned to complete the Lead & Campaign Management project, specifically the Marketing Database component. The high-level responsibilities include:

·           Translate existing business requirements into data requirements.

·           Create and maintain a logical data model of the marketing database.

·           Incorporate the marketing data model into the larger enterprise model.

·           Use PowerDesigner to accomplish these tasks.

·           Create and Maintain a Data Dictionary of all the data elements.

·           Create this model following 3rd Normal Form convention.

Requirements:

·         Use of PowerDesigner – while prior use of this tool is not mandatory, the candidate will be required to use it onsite. Prior use of Erwin or other similar modeling tool is acceptable in lieu of PowerDesigner experience, but candidates with PowerDesigner experience will be given preference for an interview.

·         Working knowledge of 3rd Normal Form conventions and standards.

·         Ability to understand the business requirements – in this case, Marketing.

·         Ability to convey a strong presence, professional image, and deal confidently with complex technical problems.

·         Interfaces with existing project team, potentially departmental staff leaders and middle and upper management, and possibly with outside workgroups.

·         Establishes credibility at all levels with clients and builds problem-solving partnerships with clients and colleagues.

·         Accuracy and attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

·         Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.

·         Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment.

·         High conceptual problem-solving and quantitative analytical aptitude.

Education and Experience:

·           Being personally accountable for delivering logical data models.

·           Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or related technical discipline preferred.

·           Experience with PowerDesigner is preferred.

·           Experience with Teradata is preferred.
