Assignment Description
Under the direction of the Chief Data Architect, serves as an expert Developer Oracle DBA for ODS development project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide support to development team on infrastructure and DBA Support.
SQL & PL/SQL development
SQL & PL/SQL code QA
SQL & PL/SQL code optimization
SQL tuning skills
Install, configure, administer and manage Oracle 9i, 10g and 11g databases
Performance monitoring, Database and SQL tuning
Perform database Backups and Recovery. Knowledge of RMAN
Participate in the development of data architectures and database management policies and standards for current and future applications.
Design archival and purging strategy with partition tables.
Database Administration
Database release scripting / communication / management
Advising operational DBAs of application specific functionality / settings
Diagnosing production issues with application specific database activity and this is done as part of the development team rather than the operational DBA team (although acting as bridge from development to operational DBA)
Set Oracle development standards
Set Oracle production standards
Train Datastage developers and others to code tuned SQL
Minimum Core Competencies:
1. 7-10 years of continuous and recent experience as a Oracle DBA with 5 primarily as developer DBA. Must be a certified Oracle DBA
2. Certification for Oracle 10g or higher
3. Certified performance tuning DBA
4. Extensive Oracle developer DBA knowledge; working with developer groups.
5. Experience as Developer DBA 90%; Oracle Admin tasks 10%.
6. Purely DBA Administrator experience NOT REQUIRED
7. ETL Data Stage NOT REQUIRED
REQUIREMENTS
Skills:
Oracle Administration and Develop, Design experience including but not limited to:
7-10 years of demonstrated Experience with web-based applications (Weblogic, SunOne, MQ, Oracle and Solaris)
Oracle 9i/10g Pl/SQL, Linux
ETL experience and skills NOT REQUIRED
DBA experience in other database NOT REQUIRED
Good communications skills
Experience with Oracle Streams and Data Guard
Performance monitoring & tuning
Extensive Experience with PL/SQL and Data modeling
Database installs and patching
Physical and logical layout of database
Backup and Recovery
Disaster Recovery
Change Management
Troubleshooting and analysis skills
Experience:
1. 7-10 years of continuous and recent experience as a Oracle DBA
2. Experience with large databases (at least 1-4TB)
