DESCRIPTION:
NEED LOCAL CANDIDATES
Under supervision and direction and with considerable latitude for independent judgment the System Administrators role consists of:
Managing and tuning in-house computer systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability
Securing and supporting the agency platforms and business applications
Performance-tune servers and storage platforms to ensure high levels of availability, data quality and security.
MANDATORY EXPERIENCE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational Management
At least 3-5 years of experience with UNIX & LINUX System administration / engineering
Experience in managing LINUX/UNIX based deployment
Strong experience with Change Management tools (Ex. Subversion-SVN and Concurrent Versions System- CVS)
Manage various server operating systems and end-user software.
Manage communications and connection solutions as related to applications and tools.
Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices.
Anticipate, identify and resolve hardware and software problems on servers. Escalate incidents as necessary.
Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance and prepare summary reports.
Schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches and reconfigurations.
Anticipate, identify, mitigate and respond to storage access problems, retrieval issues, and storage device status issues.
Ensure that information storage and retention measures and equipment adhere to all guidelines. Recommend changes where necessary.
Perform tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements with end-users regarding storage allocations, security and availability.
Enforce, through system procedures, data storage retention policies.
Follow change control, incident response, and testing processes for modifications to storage appliances and software.
Monitor, analyze, and predict trends for storage equipment performance, space allocation, and data growth to recommend enhancements.
Perform storage server/database transaction and security audits leading to identification and mitigation of security threats to enterprise data. Recommend and implement changes where necessary.
Develop, document, and maintain operational processes and tasks.
