Job Description:
Participate in and contribute to the detailed design of the target Active Directory architecture and future environment
Work closely with the Wintel Open Systems group and have a matrix reporting line into the Wintel Open Systems Head.
Build out Windows servers, including various Domain Controllers, according to established standards and processes.
Perform all planning and technical tasks related to the Active Directory consolidation project, including setting up of servers; creating and maintaining logical Active Directory structures; migrating users, computer accounts, servers and applications from various legacy forests and domains into the target state Active Directory environment.
Understand and follow all established standards, processes, and tools used within the Wintel Open Systems group to manage and maintain a complex, global production environment.
Apply past experience to make sensible recommendations and to learn quickly.
Process restricted data with sensitivity to ensure that confidential data remains private.
Skills Required:
Very strong Active Directory and general Windows technical ability, including a minimum of
10+ years' experience as a Microsoft Server Engineer.
Comfortable with fundamental Active Directory concepts such as OUs, GPOs, delegation, Sites & Services modelling, DNS, DC placement and optimization
Experience with Quest ARS would be an advantage.
Experience working on numerous large scale (20,000 users+) Active Directory migration projects as a dedicated Active Directory Consultant (Exchange or SCCM does not count)
An appreciation and understanding of Active Directory migration challenges within large enterprises and the ability to articulate these confidently
Ability to discuss important AD concepts and migration challenges with stake holders and other project teams
Experience with Quest Migration Manager for Active Directory (ADMT is acceptable but you must know it inside out)
Experience with setting up and managing Active Directory 2003 or 2008 R2 forests, domains, domain controllers, FSMO roles, schema, attributes, ACLs, privileges, permissions, etc.
Able to write VBScripts to manipulate Active Directory, comfortable with using ADSIEdit and other low level Active Directory Engineering tools
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent job experience.
MCSE certification (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) in Server Infrastructure or equivalent legacy MCSE certification (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer).
Detailed knowledge of various Enterprise applications, such as SharePoint, ERP systems, web-based systems, and their interdependence with Active Directory.
Strong understanding of Enterprise network and security designs, including in-depth experience with security mechanisms such as Kerberos, PKI, LDAP, Centrify, SiteMinder, etc.
Knowledge of Windows Server 2012, Microsoft System Center 2012, and various Windows scripting tools, especially PowerShell is advantageous.
