Sybase DBA with UNIX

Location: Richmond, VA.

Sybase DBA (not Senior or Lead) needed for Database systems administration and/or managing Database schema and data for SQL DBA team of 10 members. **Qualified candidate must have experience in SQL Server and can get around UNIX, and UNIX scripts with experience in Sybase as a plus.**

REQUIRED Education and/or Experience:
-Required 3+ years training or experience in SQL Database technologies- Sybase is a plus!
-Required 3+ years training or experience in UNIX or MS Windows operating systems
-Required 1+ years training or experience in Client/Server or other application development environment
-Proficient written and verbal communication skills
-Communicates effectively with IT associates
-Ability to document findings and solutions that address business needs

Mathematical Skills:
-Ability to report IT systems operating times
-Ability to create Excel spreadsheets in order to properly communicate or express necessary information
-Ability to gather and present performance metrics and benchmarks
-Ability to complete arithmetic calculations to validate test data

Reasoning Abilities:
-Ability to solve technical problems and recommend solutions
-Good analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
-Ability to assess outage impact to business and obtain the necessary IT resources to address the event
-Ability to identify issue trends and escalate as necessary
