Sr. Network Engineer

Sr. Network Engineer
(PRINCETON, New Jersey)

Certifications: Network Engineering CCNP preferred

Tasks:

Ability to take a high level network design turn it into a 'micro design' which is at a low enough level someone (them) can build from.
Good all around Network knowledge (no need for voice or voip)

Is responsible for monitoring, maintenance and problem resolution activities for network security. Transfers knowledge into new areas, strong knowledge in multiple disciplines or a developing expertise in one area. Functional knowledge of applicable IT Systems and the way they are utilized within the business. The Sr. Network Security Engineer has the ability to lead medium sized projects and has the technical expertise of a seasoned professional.

A. Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and resolve network security incident/problem tickets under close supervision for assigned duties within designated performance metrics and in accordance with all applicable SOPs, team processes and management guidelines.
Complete non-problem service requests (such as day to day management of firewalls) in accordance with established team processes.
Develop, execute and document plans to ensure changes to the perimeter are in adherence to Security policies. This is a role in change control processes within planned projects or problem resolution activities.
Develop and maintain technical and user documentation.
Conduct thorough root cause analysis.
Provide off-hours and / or escalated support through participation in rotating pager coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week or as needed. Occasionally travel to other business unit locations.
Analyze data and use it to present solutions to problems.
Work with IT and the business to define technical solutions
Ability to mentor staff and lead project teams
Assist management by performing other duties as assigned, including but not limited to conducting training, assisting teammates.

Experience:
Required:
Minimum of 6 years related technical experience working in network security management, crossing multiple disciplines.

Additional Skills:
Some scripting and/or support experience
Some functional experience
Experience in security systems and other tools used by client
Ability to mentor staff
Ability to enhance/develop new processes/standards
Ability to implement business objectives
Ability to multi task and shift priorities with direction from management
