Essential Responsibilities:

 

Serves as core member of IT support team to provide both on-prem infrastructure and IaaS solutions as an input to, and extension of, DevOps activities; provides internal solution engineering and consulting for development teams; monitors and optimizes infrastructure operations using the latest in virtualization and cloud frameworks.

 

 

 

In this role you will:

 

Manage and optimize both on-prem and hosted infrastructure/IaaS/Cloud and transitions between them
Measure development and testing environments performance to identify and fix bottlenecks in support of development teams
System administration across cloud and virtualized platforms
Rapid build and tear down of specialized R&D and POC environments
Development, management, and implementation of automation scripts
Provision and deploy systems according to the constantly evolving needs of the development teams
Capacity and performance management, incl. working with load balancers
Work with developers and DevOps teams to facilitate and achieve continuous deployment
Identify architecture and infrastructure challenges and to engineer/facilitate solutions involving collaboration between software development, IT infrastructure and operations, and third-party vendors

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

Bachelor's Degree
5+ years' experience in Linux/Unix system administration or system operations engineering for application platforms or DevOps support
Strong working knowledge of: o VMware and/or Xen and/or OpenStack o Apache and Tomcat o Ganglia, Nagios, NimSoft, or similar o Python and/or Ruby and/or Perl
Significant experience with databases i.e., Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, Casandra and MongoDB or similar

 

 

 

Desired Characteristics:

 

Chef and/or Puppet o Networking, i.e., IP networking, subnetting, VLAN, etc.
AJAX
HTML 5
nodejs and/or angularjs and/or bootstrap
Demonstrated excellence in cloud computing, predominately recent AWS experience, and DevOps support
Familiarity with content delivery networks
Experience with Big Data platforms/frameworks, including, but not limited to, Hadoop, OpenStack, etc.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
