The Data Modeler is responsible for producing the detailed logical data models and designs required to support information delivery and works with the Database Designer and Database Administrator in a lead role to develop the detailed physical designs.

 

The Data Modeler is expected to:

Work with all relevant resources to design conceptual and logical, and lead the design of physical, DW data models:

Enterprise Data Warehouse and ODS using normalized modeling techniques
Star-Schema Data Marts using Dimensional Modeling techniques
Design conceptual and logical metadata environment and data dictionary. Support the on-going development of the data dictionary
Recommend and consistently use widely-supported data modeling tool - ERWIN
· Act as the primary advocate of data modeling methodologies and master data/data quality/metadata management/data processing best practices.
Ensure that all relevant information is available and populated as meta data
Support the design of any tool-specific (e.g. SQL Server OLAP Services) data structures
Support the efforts of the others, including Database Designer, Developer and Administrator, End (Power) Users, Report Engineer, Business Analyst, etc-
