Job Description:
Application Analysts support the end users of business applications utilizing their analytical, organizational and technical skills to trouble shoot application issues, support application fixes, and interpret business needs as it relates to applications. Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an expert understanding of business processes, industry practices and application knowledge. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems. Craft, conduct, and participate in effective communication forums with business customers as well as internal IT staff.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
· Support Corporate business applications
· Responsible to effectively translate and communicate application issues/business needs to IT staff
· Conduct analysis of business and user needs by gathering requirements through observation,
receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
· Develop, implement and maintain documentation of program development
· Lead team in systems development, both from an application and business process perspective
· Conduct trial runs of programs utilizing approved testing procedures to ensure they produce the
desired integration results
· Facilitate user acceptance testing
· Write instructions and manuals following documentation standards to guide end users
· Participate in process and data mapping sessions
· Lead efforts across multi-functional teams for in problem resolution, evaluation, configuration and
implementation of solutions
· Forge strong relationships within core business areas
· Other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (minimum):
· Experience in PeopleSoft Purchasing and Inventory
· Experience working as a team member and/or project lead with an in-house development team on
complex initiatives
· Experience analyzing, documenting, and defining business requirements and processes
· Experience writing test scenarios, writing/executing test plans
· Experience in developing training materials
· Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
· Strong facilitation and negotiation skills
· Detailed oriented, organized and flexible
· Aptitude to learn new concepts and technologies quickly and with minimal direction
Preferred:
· Experience working as a data analyst - MS SQL Server, Oracle and MS Access query skills
· Knowledge of the oil and gas industry
Education & Work Experience (minimum):
· Bachelor's degree in MIS, Supply Chain Management or related field or equivalent related
experience
· 3-5 years relevant experience
Preferred:
· Experience in functional analysis and system design
· 5 years' experience with Corporate Information Systems
· Project Management experience
