Job Title: Technical Writer (090513-SAMCHO-IOM-RAJ)

Location: Jefferson City, MO

Duration: 6 months

Employment Type: 1099/ W2



Job Description:

The Technical Writer provides writing and editing expertise for various projects and corporate efforts. This position is responsible for providing content creation and editing support to project, proposal and marketing teams. The Technical Writer will create, edit and deliver end-user documentation, courseware, procedural guides, proposal responses and marketing copy.


The Technical Writer will:

• Interview and collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture processes and procedures and create content for end-user and technical guides and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

 

• Create and maintain templates using MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Review software development documents, such as requirements and functional specifications, for document maintenance and development impact

 

• Perform research, writing, production and maintenance of software users' manuals, procedural guides, administration guides, installation and configuration guides, release notes, courseware, Help Systems and customized documentation

• Proofread and edit documentation written by various project team members to ensure proper usage of grammar, punctuation, spelling, styles and formatting

• Work with technical staff to ensure technical reviews of documents are conducted properly and on time

• Maintain industry/technical knowledge base and facilitate/maintain industry relationships

• Demonstrate commitment to providing customer-focused quality service

• Perform other relevant duties based upon experience


Required Experience:

• Five (5) or more years of demonstrated experience in developing and editing written content

• Demonstrated ability to work on several documents at the same time, develop content according to written standards, and follow established procedures

• Adept at interviewing technical staff quickly and converting the information acquired into concise audience-specific documentation

• Proficient with MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Experience with using Adobe products (i.e. Acrobat Pro, Captivate)

• Proven ability to work as part of a collaborative team

• Familiarity and experience with image capture and editing software

• CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid)

• Working knowledge of database concepts: DB2, Oracle, SQL Server and J2EE application servers

• In depth understanding of the SDLC processes especially in a J2EE shop

• Experience writing SDK or software integration documentation including web services, APIs

• Experience writing J2EE software deployment documentation

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate to all project

members and stakeholders; must be a team player who works well with technical and non-                       technical resources
