Position: Senior Technical Writer/Facilitator
Location: Woodlawn, MD
Rate: $48/hr
Description: long-term contract
Responsibilities:
· The selected candidate will handle program wide technical writing activities including proposal writing, technical and executive status/progress reports, Information Technology technical documentation, white papers, position papers etc.
· He/she works with minimum technical oversight and is regarded as an expert. Performs the following job duties:
· Designs and develops audience focused communications and technical documentation.
Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
· Supports and performs requirements analysis activities to develop use cases, detailed functional requirements, and functional specifications for IT systems.
· Design and develop computer graphics.
· Develop Web pages to store and display documentation.
· Prepares program wide status reports and presentations.
· Attends client meetings, requirements gathering sessions, requirements workshops to document and transcribe accurate meeting minutes.
· Will be responsible to review/draft and Task Deliverables.
Requirements:
· Demonstrated experience with organizing material and completing writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
· Demonstrated ability to design document structures based on the communication and deliverable needs.
· Demonstrated experience with writing and editing Information Technology specific technical artifacts including Use Cases, Detailed Functional Requirements, Design Specifications, Test Plans, User guides, technical training guides, end user training guides, online help modules, installation documentation, etc.
· Experience editing proposals, statements of work, request for proposal etc.
· Demonstrated ability in developing documentation work product/deliverable guidelines and checklists.
· Experience with software requirements efforts including requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation.
· Experience with usability testing
· Experience with authoring and editing program wide executive communications such as position papers, Progress reports, status reports etc.
· Experience with authoring and editing program wide customer specific reports such as weekly status reports, technical progress reports, accomplishments, lessons learned etc.
· Expert level proficiency with creating computer graphics for both computer display and print purposes.
Education:
· An undergraduate degree (BA/BS) from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology or a computer related field with 11 years of professional experience, or a Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a computer related field with 9 years of professional experience.
