Position Title: SQL Applications Developer

Location: Baltimore, MD

Job Description

TheSQL Application Developerwill be responsible for full life-cycle of medium to large sized complex projects; require strong technical skills anddemonstrate ability to understand complex business processes. Develops solutions based on extensive technical knowledge, skills and experience; influences client towards innovative/integrated solutions.The incumbent will develop complex SQL code to extract, transform and load data in a MSSQL environment from multiple databases.  The candidate will be responsible to develop Universes, Web intelligence/Crystal reports and dashboards as solutions to meet complex clinical and analytical requirements. The incumbentwill also maintain the developed code and reports in a production environment. The candidate should be a quick learner, team player and creative thinker. The candidate should be familiar with dimensional modeling and OLAP databases. Reports to Sr. Development Team Managerand is responsible for assigned Epic system core measures, CCDA and MU reporting projects within the specifications of a project schedule. Incumbent will be responsible for the creation, implementation, maintenance, performance, production support and documentation of various reporting and ETL requirements.This position works closely with the Clinical Specialists, the Clinical Analytics Team and Epic staff to ensure readiness audits and ongoing operational compliance as required by regulatory guidelines. The SQLApplications Developer willdemonstrate advanced proficiency with complex SQL scripting for reporting and ETL projects, creating detailed documentation, including system design documentation, procedures, process and data flows, RFPs, project plans, and recommendations for system enhancements and replacements.Demonstrates advanced interpersonal skills to effectively interface with department heads, University, Hospital and Health System personnel, vendors, and consultants.

 

Responsibilities

· Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of computer systems, applications and interfaces.

· Demonstrates proficiency in all skills required to facilitate complex application reports and enhancements.

· Analyzes and resolves complex system integration problems in clinical and/or business operations.

· Develop and implement Business Intelligence solutions using SAP Business Objects to solve customer requirements

· Demonstrates advanced proficiency in creating detailed documentation, including system design documentation, procedures, process and data flows, RFPs, project plans, and recommendations for system enhancements and replacements.

· Demonstrates ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines.  Willingness to work off hours as needed in support of changes to the computing environment.

· Communicates effectively with users, colleagues, developers, and organizational administration.

· Provides estimates for moderate to complex work efforts.

· Supports multiple concurrent projects and/or application modules, educates and coaches other team members, and manages user expectations.

· Provides subject matter expertise and support in data analysis, content validation of environment data (QA and Production environments) and in the design and development of software products to report and/or display Epic Reports and CCDA project data.

· Participates in project planning to ensure effective use of technology and/or business process to meet customers' needs.

· Establishes and monitors project and task schedules and ensures adherence to work deadlines.

Requirements

· Proficient in SQL development in a MS SQL Server environment

· Proficient in use of SSIS for ETL

· 3 to 5 years' experience with development, implementation of Business Intelligence solutions using SAP  Business Objects

· Experience with implementing SQL to effectuate specific business rules to create data marts

· Strong data modeling and SQL development background: SSAS/SSIS/SSRS/SAP Business Objects web intelligence and Universes

· Preferred Microsoft SQL Server and Business Objects Certifications

· Thorough knowledge and experience with T-SQL including DDL and DML,stored procedures, functions ,  index optimization and complex Joins.

· Experience with large data sets and performance considerations

· Use of SQL Agent for Job Scheduling

· High level of understanding of structured programming, types of databases, file structures and programming tools.

· Demonstrated analytical ability to solve both business and technical problems.

· Develop application solution depicted in requirements specifications in a standardized, Best-Practices based SDLC manner

· A detailed understanding and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite, MS Project and MS Visio

· Demonstrates proficiency in creating detailed documentation, including recommendations for system changes and improvements.

· Provides estimates for complex work efforts.

· Collaborate with cross-functional work teams with minimal supervision.

· Communicates issues, resolution strategies, risks, and overall project status

· Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and effective communication to interface effectively with department heads, employees, clients and consultants.

· Strong written and verbal communications skills.

· 7years of industry related experience required. Additional education may be substituted for some work experience.

· May require specialized knowledge in a specific application/module/computer system.

· Ability to handle analysis, design, system configuration and testing tasks at a medium to high level of complexity.

· Ability to incorporate policies, procedures, and specific clinical practice and/or business processing needs into information systems training

· Excellent customer service skills

· Strong organizational skills in managing multiple priorities

· Uses critical thinking skills regarding use of the clinical/business operations software applications

· Detailed understanding of clinical/business operations workflows and system configuration gained by participating in validation sessions with project team members and assisting in system design.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Project.

· Demonstrated expertise in technical design techniques for related software applications.

· Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles as they relate to managing timeline, budget and quality.

· General understanding of the work flows in clinical or healthcare business operations.

Preferred

· Development experience with data visualization tools like SAP Dashboards/Qlik View

· Three years operational experience in a clinical or healthcare business operations.

· Experience with implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large-scale and complex healthcare organization.

· Knowledge of the current healthcare environment preferred.

· Experience in developing business and/or clinical workflows related to the assigned application module.
