Position Summary:

Our client's Cloud Services team is looking for a Cloud Service Automation Lead with engineering and service delivery experience for distributed systems and 
services-based architectures; with strong communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

You will be accountable for engineering of the company's Cloud infrastructure framework, with a focus on delivery of automated deployment, monitoring, and 
remediation capabilities for cloud services at web scale, in fully virtualized IaaS and PaaS operating environments. You will be accountable for engineering of the 
framework in support of the cloud platform, with a focus on delivery of automated deployment, monitoring, and remediation capabilities for cloud services at web 
scale, in fully virtualized IaaS and PaaS operating environments.

 

In this role, you will:

Build and lead a small, highly focused team of Cloud Service Automation Engineers to automate delivery of cloud based solutions built on the company's 
platform, as well as making key contributions into product requirements and delivery of the common operating infrastructure for services including monitoring, 
HA, performance, security, and availability
Build a fully automated, highly elastic cloud orchestration framework over multiple IaaS providers including AWS, OpenStack, & Azure leveraging third 
generation deployment automation and configuration management frameworks such as Chef
Implement & execute automated monitoring and remediation services to ensure high availability and performance of services at scale
Lead Implementation of some or all of the other common operational infrastructure in distributed cloud

Environments including:

 

* Security, encryption, AAA
* Logging and log aggregation
* Load balancing and DNS


Engineer requirements for As-A-Service offerings working with Platform and Services development teams
Lead definition and automation of procedures for ongoing service operations of production services
Lead advanced scripting efforts using Python and Bash centered around enabling a DevOps model
Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders
Provide timely and accurate estimates for deliverables
Participate in Cross-Business Roadmap Plans
Participate in strategic and tactical planning sessions

 

Required Background:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development, cloud/online service engineering/automation or cloud/online service operations
Deep experience with at least one third generation automation and configuration management solution such as Chef Advanced scripting skills using Python and Bash
Proven ability to build and lead small, focused, highly effective teams
Experience with implementing monitoring tools such as Nagios, Graphite, Zabbix, etc.

 

Preferred Background:

Master of Science Degree in Engineering (CS, EE, Computer Engineering)
Demonstrated expertise developing Core Java applications (Java 1.6 or later)
Demonstrated expertise with Continuous Delivery from code check-in through build and automate deployment to cloud environments
Minimum of 5 yrs experience in engineering cloud/online services at massive scale, including large scale SQL/NoSQL services
Experience with implementation of Cloud application fabric and/or PaaS technologies such as Cloud Foundry
Strong communication, and time management skills
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-site organization
Experience working in Agile development environment
Familiarity with Hadoop and Big Data technologies

 

Eligibility Requirements:

Ability and willingness to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA
Ability and willingness to participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation in support of your team's services
Ability and willingness to travel, as required
