Description:

Candidate needs to be someone who has run into the problems of implementing a cloud infrastructure that is NOT on-premise

Design, configure, and support virtual machines in multiple public cloud environments for both intranet and Internet facing applications using virtual private cloud mechanisms.
Responsible for creating installation templates, deployment scripts, documentation, and troubleshooting for thousands of virtual systems hosted within public cloud environments.
Must be capable of working with multiple managed service providers to provide guidance on the deployment of virtual machines using the templates this candidate created and acting as an escalation point for issues involving operational support of the cloud hosting environments.
Must be adaptable and capable of creating automation scripts using a variety of system management tools. Education/Experience o Bachelor degree in computer science preferred or equivalent experience.
Amazon Web Services or other Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) public cloud provider experience required
Systems Administration experience required
Microsoft Windows Server certification preferred o Red Hat Enterprise Linux server certification preferred
Builds templates used to create thousands of virtual machines that are used to run American Airlines operational systems
Directs the activity of multiple managed service providers to deploy and support virtual machines on demand o Troubleshoots advanced problems with both Production and Non-Production systems as necessary
Creates automation processes using multiple management tools Skills
Automation skills such as PowerShell for Windows and/or shell scripting for Red Hat Linux
Use of automated deployment tools for virtual machines
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
Expert ability to work both directly with customers/end-users and with other operationally relevant internal teams
Expert ability to work independently and manage time
Expert mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback

Expert knowledge of computer hardware and software as it related to LAN/WAN
Working knowledge of cloud platform administration interfaces, including web-based Graphical User Interfaces and Application Programming Interfaces
Familiarity with both native and 3rd party mechanisms for securing data in public cloud platforms
