-Responsible for designing and building Oracle databases that comply with existing database standards and established design patterns.
-Troubleshoots Oracle database issues and optimization issues using AWR reports and Explain Plans.
-Performs work that is complex and varied in nature.
-Must have good communication and teaming skills.

iORMYX Inc., IT is assisting a top client of ours in San Antonio, TX identify an AIX / Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administrator to join their team for a 2+ year engagement. Ideal candidates will have experience in IBM AIX 5.3, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x and administering Storage Area Networks/NAS.

 

Job Responsibilities:
-Configuration, implementation, and management of servers in a highly available and virtualized environment running:
-IBM AIX
-Red hat Enterprise Linux
-VMWare
-Configuration, implementation, and management of Tiered SAN and NAS Storage environments.
-Apply strong knowledge of backup and recovery processes and disaster recovery procedures to maintain data protection and availability.
-Implementation and management of platform security
-Ensure day-to-day support and a high level of 24x7x365 service availability.
-Respond to real-time performance alerts to resolve performance problems, regular on-going review and analysis of performance data to identify current performance problems and proactively detect potential future performance problems.
-Provide 2nd or 3rd level proactive and reactive service and performance management for mission critical systems.
-Identifies requirements for real-time alerts to notify support groups of a current or potential performance
problem.
-Independently perform complex troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, solution development, and implementation.
-Manage system specific network infrastructure components, configurations, and applications.
-Strong performance tuning and capacity planning experience
-Strong documentation skill sets required to build run books for identified critical systems.

 

Required Qualifications:
-Minimum 4 years of experience with IBM AIX 5.3 or newer
-Minimum 3 years Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.x administration on VMWare or other server virtualization platform.
-Minimum 3 years of experience in administering Storage Area Networks and NAS (Network Attached Storage) Configuration and Management (EMC, IBM, HP, Hitachi) also to include storage virtualization
-Applicant must have a solid understanding of automating system administration task and scripting languages
-Applicant must have a solid understanding of TCP/IP networking
-Applicant must have a solid understanding of network infrastructure components and applications
-Applicant must have a solid understanding of host security (passwords, file permissions, file system integrity, security packages) and network security concepts
-Applicant must have strong knowledge of backup and recovery procedures, and disaster recovery procedures
-Applicant must pass a security background check as prescribed by NERC
-Applicant must be able to lift 25lbs
-Ability to work independently and establish work priorities with minimal supervision
-Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information for security compliance
-Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record

 

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in administering Symantec Enterprise Netbackup, HP Data Protector, CommVault, Avamar Configuration and Management
