Title: Sr. Windows Engineer

Duration: 6 months

Location: Plano / TX

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


Maintain all servers, hardware, and software on a wide variety of Dell and Microsoft systems. This requires extensive knowledge of RIS, Exchange, Sharepoint, Sharepoint Portal, SQL, Blackberry, WSUS, Cognos, Citrix, CRM, Unix, and IIS.
Responsible for all server, data, and systems security, maintaining security patches, antivirus software, firewalls, and other forms of system protection. This is a critical part of this position.
Maintain VMware environment. This requires extensive knowledge of configuring VM servers including assigning devices, resources, and converting physical to virtual machines.
Requires extensive knowledge of EMC Clarion, Centera and Celarra San and NAS arrays, as well as iSCSI and fiber channel. Must be able to create LUNs and Meta-LUNs to carve disk up for servers.
Requires extensive knowledge of EMC DiskXtender and EmailXtender.
Strong hands-on administration experience on Windows 2003 Server, Domains, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP. Adds, deletes, and modifies users, groups, and contacts on a frequent basis.
Monitors and configures backups for servers. Resolves issues regarding back up problems.
Strong knowledge of Cisco VoIP systems.
Supports, configures, and troubleshoots video conference equipment for assigned location(s).
Configures new personal computers and laptops for users, including setting up, installing software, and establishing user profiles.
Assist with disaster recovery processes for company, including maintaining backups of appropriate data, network, and plan.
Attends sales and vendor meetings to provide support to network issues and to update, repair and maintain laptops.
Provides backup to Help Desk when needed.
Installs, upgrades, and maintains desktop and server software for assigned location(s).
Provides support to users in remote locations, as needed.
Installs and configures specialty software to monitor network for errors, inventory, and other network issues.
Assists in building new servers, migrating data to them, and ensuring data integrity.
Installs, supports, and maintains Blackberry equipment for end users.
Completes other projects and duties as assigned


Internal Responsibilities:
Adheres to all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to those identified within the Standards of Business Conduct and the Employee Handbook, as may be amended from time to time. Adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and the company's governance/compliance program.
Responsible for reporting violations of the company's policies and procedures, Standards of Business Conduct, governance program, laws and regulations through the company's Help Line or other mechanism that may be available at the time of the violation. Assists with internal control failure remediation efforts.
Becomes knowledgeable of internal control responsibilities through training and instruction. Responsible and accountable for internal control performance within their area of responsibility. Participates in the internal controls self-assessment process.
Ensures concerns with internal control design or performance and process changes that impact internal control execution are communicated to management.
Minimum Knowledge, Competencies, & Qualifications:
Associates degree in network systems, or similar field, or 7 years experience, or combination of both.
Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches, wireless, Raritan, F5-Big-IP, Whats UP Gold, and Bluecoat would be a plus.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within this field.

Advanced ability in organization, time management and planning skills
Excellent problem solving abilities
Strong interpersonal and partnership skills
Must be able to work on an on-call basis understanding that he/she may be called in to assist with major outages
Ability to work independently and as a team player
Reporting to this position: No Direct Reports
