Location : Baltimore,MD
The business analyst has the primary responsibility of analyzing and
synthesizing information provided by all stakeholders throughout the
business. The stakeholders include, but are not limited to senior
executives, end users and IT. The BA will elicit requirements from various
stakeholders, identify the actual needs of the stakeholders and prioritize
"must haves" vs. "nice to haves". They will also facilitate communication
across various organizational units and help resolve conflicting
requirements. The BA will play a central role in aligning the needs of the
various business units with the capabilities that can be delivered by
internal or external IT organizations by serving as a translator between
these groups.
Roles and Responsibilities are:
* Work with stakeholders to clearly identify project scope and success
metrics.
* Document 'as-is' and 'to-be' business processes, requirements, use cases
and adhere to applicable standards.
* Prepare for and conduct requirement elicitation activities.
* Help partners conceptualize the 'to-be' operational environment.
* Learn and apply tools utilized by the Business Analytics team.
* Perform ad-hoc analysis of data.
* Identify process and system optimization opportunities.
* Assist with keeping all stakeholders informed of analysis progress and
issues encountered.
* Effectively elevate large "road-block" issues to senior management for
resolution.
* Effectively research, analyze, and identify current and emerging
technology trends/products/concepts that can improve the team or partners
business process.
Skills:
* In depth understanding of Accounting, Finance, Statistics, and Information
Systems.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the energy industry and CER operations a plus
but not required.
* Demonstrate a history of outperforming peers.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to function in a team environment, across departments, and to
maintain rapport with internal and external customers.
* Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail,
problem-solving, and independent decision-making.
* Ability to rapidly learn new skills as required by assignment.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from
individuals and groups.
* Ability to effectively manage workload and meet aggressive deadlines.
* Basic SQL knowledge a plus but not required.
