Position: Senior Java/Web Services Developer
Location: Baltimore, MD
Description:
Our client in Baltimore, MD is looking for a Senior Java/Web Services
Developer to join their team on a contract to hire basis.
* The Senior Lead Java/Web Services Programmer shall have extensive
experience in developing, maintaining, and supporting applications and
computer/network operating system and other system software.
* Has prime accountability for major projects and will develop
detailed and robust requirements, code, test, and implement proposed
systems.
* Works without technical oversight or as the leader of a team as
required.
* Candidate must have experience as a Work Order Manager.
* Candidate shall also possess strong oral and written
communications skills in order to clearly and effectively convey issues,
reports, and other deliverables to client counterparts & LM management.
Responsibilities:
* Provides technical expertise, support, oversight and needs
analysis in functional areas such as, but not limited to, design and
development of appropriate IT solutions and architectures, creation of
information and decision papers on IT issues, assistance in the development
of IT standards, review of logical and physical database and application
design, change control and problem resolution, validation and stress-testing
of IT solutions, facilitating the use of IT solutions by end-users.
* Leads process and data modeling initiatives in support of
planning and analysis efforts using both manual and automated tools.
* Applies reverse-engineering and reengineering disciplines to
develop migration strategic and planning documents.
* Applies an enterprise-wide set of disciplines for the planning,
analysis, design and construction of information systems on an
enterprise-wide basis or across a major sector of the enterprise.
* Develops, integrates, and deploys enterprise solutions.
Engineers and manages hardware and software architectures and ensures
compatibility and optimal integration of multiple systems. Responsible for
technical architecture adherence to plans and specifications.
* Leads the formulation, review and recommendation of solutions to
customer problems based on prior experience and hands-on understanding of
how products and services interrelate and support the customer mission.
* Performs needs analysis to define opportunities for new and
improved business and process solutions. Oversees the performance of
feasibility studies and trade off analyses to define system scope and
objectives.
* Develops time/cost estimates for new or modified systems.
* As a Work Order Manager, additional functions will include:
o Manage resources assigned to the work order.
o Monitor budget for the work order.
o Oversee all activities related to the work order.
o Participate in status meetings with SSA counterparts,
as required.
o Ensure effective communication on all work order
issues.
o Serve as a Quality Control (QC) Specialist for the Task
and ensure compliance with CMMI Processes.
Requirements:
* Experience with J2EE technologies such as Core Java, JSP, Custom
tag libraries, EJB, JDBC, JMS, WSAD 6.0 or RAPID Application Developer (RAD)
7.0, Web sphere, RAD, RSA and Servlets.
* Experience with Web Service Technology and Security.
* Experience with J2EE Framework/ORM such as Struts (MVC Framework)
and Hibernate.
* Solid OOD/OOP foundation with experience in UML diagramming and
design documentation.
* Database experience such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, SQL and
JDBC.
* Strong XML processing experience such as XSD, XPath, XSL, XSLT,
etc.
* Experience with JavaScript, HTML, SSL. Knowledge of Internet
Explorer 6 and/or 7.
* Experience with complex programming, program debugging, data
analysis, problem analysis and resolution issues within OO application
systems.
* Communication skills to present ideas and concepts effectively;
strong and proven problem solving.
* Self-managed with the ability to mentor others.
* Familiarity with project management frameworks.
* Experience with projects supporting Service Oriented Architecture
principles, a plus.
Education:
* An undergraduate degree (BA/BS) or Master's degree from an
accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology or a
computer related field with 11 years of professional experience. We can
consider candidates with Business, Math, or Engineering degrees but there
must be a related IT focus.
