Data Modeler – Power Designer and 3NF (Ref : 021012 BRBE)

Job Description The Data Modeling position will be working on building out a Marketing Database in the context of our
Enterprise Data Strategy. The main responsibility will be to complete a logical data model of the
necessary data required by marketing to complete their stated goals. This candidate will go through
previously gathered business requirements and translate them into data requirements, and then
incorporate those elements into a larger data model. The Data Modeler will be a part of a project team
assigned to complete the Lead & Campaign Management project, specifically the Marketing Database
component. The high-level responsibilities include:
h Translate existing business requirements into data requirements
h Create and maintain a logical data model of the marketing database
h Incorporate the marketing data model into the larger enterprise model
h Use PowerDesigner to accomplish these tasks
h Create and Maintain a Data Dictionary of all the data elements
h Create this model following 3rd Normal Form convention
Summary:
Required Qualifications
h Use of PowerDesigner V while prior use of this tool is not mandatory, the candidate will be
required to use it onsite. Prior use of Erwin or other similar modeling tool is acceptable in lieu
of PowerDesigner experience
h Working knowledge of 3rd Normal Form conventions and standards
h Ability to understand the business requirements V in this case, Marketing
h Ability to convey a strong presence, professional image, and deal confidently with complex
technical problems.
h Interfaces with existing project team, potentially departmental staff leaders and middle and
upper management, and possibly with outside workgroups.
h Establishes credibility at all levels with clients and builds problem-solving partnerships with
clients and colleagues.
h Accuracy and attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
h Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
h Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.

Education and Experience
h Being personally accountable for delivering logical data models
h Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or related technical discipline preferred
h Experience with PowerDesigner is preferred
h Experience with Teradata is preferred
